5th World Digital Exhibition (WORLDEX) 2024

PHOTO: Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal led the pack among the 10 winners of WORLDEX Social Meets Soccer Awards 2023. In 2024 we shall similarly present the WORLDEX Social Meets Soccer Awards (10 recipients) as well as the WORLDEX Africa Telecom 50 Awards (50 recipients). The full awards list of recipients for these two categories will be announced in the media in October 2024.

OVERVIEW
World Digital Exhibition (WORLDEX) is promoted by REVENUE magazine and organized by its parent company, Alford Conferences Limited. The monthly REVENUE magazine, published since July 2020, is a journal that promotes pan-African trade and investment. WORLDEX is modelled after the leading global tech shows: MWC Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain), India Mobile Congress (New Delhi, India), Dublin Tech Summit (Dublin, Ireland), GITEX Global (Dubai, UAE), Consumer Electronics Show (Las Vegas, USA), Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Hong Kong, China), London Tech Week (London, UK) CEATEC Japan (Tokyo, Japan), Web Summit (Lisbon, Portugal), Korea Electronics Show (Seoul, South Korea), and VIVA Technology (Paris, France). It is an annual tech trade fair that connects Africa’s ICT industry and allied sectors more effectively with the rest of the global tech community.

The first three editions of World Digital Exhibition (2020, 2021 and 2022) were held in the format of an online publication of the winners of the WORLDEX AFRICA TOP TECH LEADERS AWARDS. We looked mainly at three of countries in Africa for these awards: Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. For each of these three years, the awards list was published in the Facebook and Twitter platforms of Alford Conferences Limited. Other selected Nigerian newspapers and African online news websites also published such lists.

In line with our global vision, we redesigned the annual World Digital Exhibition in 2023, expanding its focus beyond Africa. We moved away from the annual WORLDEX AFRICA TOP TECH LEADERS AWARDS, and replaced it with WORLDEX AWARDS. In October 2023, we announced the following as the eight new award categories for the next WORDLEX AWARDS: Lifetime Achievement in ICT Award, African President of the Year in ICT Award, Nigerian State Governor of the Year in ICT Award, Social Meets Soccer Awards, Telecom Regulator Awards, Global Brand Awards, Africa Telecom 50 Awards, and Digital Women 100 Awards.

The 4th edition of WORLDEX focused on one of these categories: WORLDEX Social Meets Soccer Awards. This honour is reserved for the top 10 soccer players in the world with the highest number of social media followers in the combination of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (now known as X).

5TH WORLD DIGITAL EXHIBITION (WORLDEX) 2024
The 5th edition of the tech show, slated for the latter part of 2024, would feature award winners in four categories: WORLDEX Social Meets Soccer Awards, WORLDEX Africa Telecom 50 Awards, WORLDEX Nigerian State Governor of the Year in ICT Award, and WORLDEX African President of the Year in ICT Award.

4TH WORLD DIGITAL EXHIBITION (WORLDEX) 2023
WORLDEX Social Meets Soccer Awards
This honour is reserved for the top 10 soccer players in the world with the highest number of social media followers in the combination of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (now known as X). The award is reserved for players who are nationals of FIFA-member countries, irrespective of the country or club they currently play for. Such players (active or retired) must be less than 40 years old as at the time of each annual event. The ranking is produced by the editorial team of REVENUE magazine from available data and literature online about these global soccer players.
