The two other award categories were Excellence in IGR Awards 2025 (presented to 10 recipients), and Achievement in IGR Awards 2025 (presented to 10 recipients).
Now in its 7th annual edition, the Nigerian States IGR Awards program spurs a healthy competition among Nigeria’s 37 subnational of the country towards transforming their taxation systems and substantially raising the amount that they generate from internal sources, outside the monthly allocations that they receive from the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN). IGR stands for internally generated revenue. The awards were presented at a nationwide roadshow that took our team to the internal revenue service (IRS) of the winning states in the past six years: 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. During these six years, the roadshow took us to the IRS of 25 out of the 37 subnationals of Nigeria: Benue, FCT, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau (North Central); Borno, Gombe and Yobe (North East); Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi and Zamfara (North West); Anambra, Enugu and Imo (South East); Edo and Rivers (South South); and Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Lagos (South West). The 7th Nigerian States IGR Awards are expected to be presented in three categories: Governor of the Year in IGR Award (two recipients); Excellence in IGR Awards (10 recipients); and Achievement in IGR Awards (10 recipients).
